LG Electronics President Ryu Jae-cheol personally met with North American R&D talent in a push to secure physical AI experts

[Financial News] LG Electronics CEO Ryu Jae-cheol led the North America Tech Conference, an R&D talent recruitment event held in San Francisco, California. The move was aimed at directly securing talent to drive future growth businesses such as robotics, AI data center cooling solutions, and mobility.
LG Electronics said on the 31st that it held the North America Tech Conference, an invitation-only event for overseas talent, in San Francisco on the 29th local time. The event was run as a recruitment-linked program that invited local R&D professionals and PhD-level specialists to introduce the company’s vision for future businesses and its technological competitiveness.
A total of about 100 people attended, including PhD holders and researchers from major universities and research institutions across the United States, such as Stanford University, Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and the University of California, Berkeley, as well as R&D professionals working at local big tech companies and startups.
Ryu visited the venue in person and introduced his own career path, from majoring in mechanical engineering and joining the company as an engineer to serving as a business division head, business unit head, and ultimately CEO. He said, "LG Electronics places greater importance than any other company on securing talent with technical expertise," adding, "It is a company where people with technical expertise can grow into key leaders who will drive the company’s future."
He also introduced the company’s vision and strategy for accelerating future growth around commercial HVAC, mobility, and physical AI, rather than resting on its current global No. 1 position in home appliances, OLED TVs, and telematics.
LG Electronics is nurturing robotics, which combines robot platforms, robot intelligence, and data capabilities; its AI data center cooling solution business; and its mobility business, which is developing an intelligent vehicle platform based on AI-Defined Vehicle (AIDV) and Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV), as key pillars of future growth based on physical AI.
Finally, Ryu said, "Today, I spoke about future technologies including AI, robotics, and mobility, but in the end, it is talent that changes the future," adding, "LG Electronics will continue to create meaningful changes in the world together with talented people who are not afraid of bigger challenges."
LG Electronics is operating a range of recruitment programs to secure outstanding talent worldwide, including the North America Tech Conference. Starting on the 9th of this month, the company has been visiting major universities across North America in sequence, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Michigan, Purdue University, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, to hold recruitment information sessions. In Korea, it has also been recruiting new employees for the second half of the year since last month in fields such as robotics, manufacturing technology, and electrical and electronics, as it seeks to secure talent to lead next-generation growth areas.
