[Financial News] Among listed affiliates of the country's four largest conglomerates, the number of non-owner executives holding stock worth more than 1 billion won has approached 400. More than 90% of them were found to be affiliated with Samsung Electronics and SK hynix.
Samsung has 269, SK has 122 executives whose stock assets exceed 1 billion won

On the 31st, the Korea CXO Research Institute, a corporate analysis specialist, released its survey of 62 listed affiliates of Samsung Group, SK Group, Hyundai Motor Group and LG Group under the title '10 Billion Won Club for Non-Owner Executives.'
Based on executives listed in this year's semiannual reports, their common shares were valued at the closing price on the 24th of this month. The result showed 398 non-owner executives holding stocks worth at least 1 billion won. Their combined stock assets were estimated at 1.0507 trillion won.
By group, Samsung Group had the most with 269 executives, or 67.6%, followed by SK Group with 122, or 30.7%. Together, the two groups accounted for 98.2% of the total. In contrast, Hyundai Motor Group had just 4 executives, or 1%, and LG Group had 3, or 0.8%.
Analysts said the gap stems from differences in stock compensation systems across the groups. In particular, Samsung Electronics and SK hynix boosted executives' shareholdings by paying part of their performance bonuses in company stock.
In fact, Samsung Electronics accounted for 256 executives, or 64.3%, while SK hynix had 107, or 26.9%. Combined, the two companies had 363 executives, representing 91.2% of the total.
Even over the past three months, when share prices fell, the number of executives in the two companies' '1 billion won club' actually increased. The rise in assets appears to have been driven more by an increase in shareholdings through stock compensation than by stock price gains. The number of such executives at Samsung Electronics and SK hynix jumped 40.7% from 258 on May 13 to 363 on the 24th of this month. Over the same period, Samsung Electronics shares fell 9.5%, while SK hynix shares dropped 15.4%.
President Roh Tae-moon holds 120,000 Samsung Electronics shares... worth 32 billion won

There were 12 so-called 'super-rich' non-owner executives whose stock holdings exceeded 10 billion won. By group, Samsung had 6, SK had 5, and Hyundai Motor Group had 1. LG had none.
Roh Tae-moon, president of Samsung Electronics, ranked first. He holds 124,280 shares of Samsung Electronics. Based on the closing price of 257,000 won on the 24th, his stock holdings were valued at about 31.99396 billion won. He was the only non-owner executive among the four major groups to exceed 30 billion won.
He was followed by Noh-Jung Kwak, president of SK hynix, with 23.91535 billion won; Song Jae-seung, chief investment officer of SK Square, with 18.31136 billion won; Park Hak-kyu, president of Samsung Electronics, with 18.07686 billion won; and Seo Dong-gwon, managing director at Hyundai AutoEver, with 16.54731 billion won.
