[Financial News] Prime Minister Han Seong-sook on the 30th ordered relevant agencies to respond urgently to forecasts of heavy rain across the country.
Han said, "Take thorough safety measures so that areas already damaged by earlier rain do not suffer additional losses," and added, "In particular, inspect in advance and strictly manage danger zones such as apartment slopes, landslide-prone areas, retaining walls near residential areas, steep slopes, and aging homes."
She also said, "As torrential rain is expected early on the 31st, prepare evacuation plans for residents in vulnerable areas, and if dangerous conditions arise, use every available resource, including village broadcasts and sirens, to quickly guide evacuations."
Han also urged officials to maintain emergency duty readiness and information sharing, and to pay close attention to the safety of personnel responding on site.
According to the Korean Meteorological Administration, rain is forecast for most parts of the country on the 31st. In particular, some areas are expected to see extremely heavy rainfall, especially in southern Gyeonggi Province, southern inland Gangwon Province, the Chungcheong region, and North Jeolla Province. In the Capital Region, strong rain is expected mainly between early morning and morning. Rain is likely to continue in the central regions until Tuesday morning.
