[Profile] Kim Kyung-soo, presidential political affairs special adviser: a key figure in the pro-Moon Jae-in camp who also served as the first chair of the Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development

[Financial News] Kim Kyung-soo, appointed on the 30th as presidential political affairs special adviser, served as Roh Moo-hyun's final secretary. He is also regarded as the heir apparent to the pro-Moon Jae-in camp.
After Roh left office, Kim moved with him to Bongha Village in Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province, and stayed by his side until the end.
He later won a seat in Gimhae-eul, South Gyeongsang Province, in the 20th National Assembly election and entered parliament. During the Moon Jae-in administration, he served as the 37th Governor of South Gyeongsang Province from 2018 to 2021.
However, he lost the governorship after his conviction was finalized in the so-called 2018 opinion rigging scandal in South Korea.
He was later reinstated under the Yoon Suk Yeol administration. After Lee Jae-myung was nominated as the party's presidential candidate, Kim served as chief campaign chair on the Democratic Party of Korea's election committee and led the campaign trail.
After the launch of the Lee Jae-myung administration, he was named chair of the Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development and has worked on the Five Mega-Regions and Three Special Self-Governing Provinces Policy for balanced growth.
In the South Gyeongsang gubernatorial race in the June 3 local elections, he challenged incumbent Governor Park Wan-su but lost.
