Yonhap News [Financial News] Going forward, the one-stop damage reporting procedure for victims of illegal private lending will be simplified, and service application channels will be expanded.
The application channels for the 'Illegal Private Lending One-Stop Support' service, introduced by the government last March to provide relief to victims of illegal private lending, will be expanded, and the procedures will be simplified.
The Financial Services Commission announced on the 30th that it held a meeting on the 28th to discuss countermeasures against illegal private lending and finalized the 'Supplementary Measures for Illegal Private Lending One-Stop Support' containing these details.
The Illegal Private Lending One-Stop Support is a service where, if a victim reports the issue just once, the Credit Recovery Committee assigns a dedicated person to provide support ranging from victim protection to referral for investigation and debt adjustment.
Previously, if victims of illegal private lending wanted to report damages online, they had to apply individually for each damage relief system on the Financial Supervisory Service website. This caused inconvenience, as victims had to repeatedly enter the same creditor information and loan/repayment details. Going forward, You can apply in a single step through the 'One-stop Report of Illegal Private Lending' menu on the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) website.
The procedure for connecting from the police reporting stage to support from the Credit Recovery Committee (CRC) is also being streamlined. If the victim consents, they can access the CRC application via a QR code at the scene of the police report and request counseling.
Meanwhile, according to the FSS, 821 victims used the one-stop service from February to August, with 656 of them reporting 4,705 cases of damage. CRC specialists halted illegal debt collection for 3,421 cases of illegal private lending, and among them, secured debt settlement agreements in 645 cases.
