Doosan Chairman Park Jung-won Urgently Departs for Nepal as Group Launches Full-Scale Effort to Rescue Employees

[Financial News] Doosan Group has launched a full-scale effort to rescue six Doosan Enerbility employees who have been out of contact since the devastating floods in Nepal.
Chairman Park Jung-won and Vice Chairman Park Geewon, who also serves as vice chairman and CEO of Doosan Enerbility, have gone directly to the scene in Nepal. Meanwhile, Doosan Enerbility's on-site response team is desperately working to locate the missing employees, exploring the use of private helicopters for the search.
According to the business community on the 30th, Chairman Park and Vice Chairman Park departed for Nepal from Incheon International Airport after 2 p.m. the previous day and arrived there later that afternoon.
Chairman Park plans to directly oversee the rescue of employees and the response to the accident on site in Nepal. Speaking to reporters there, Vice Chairman Park said regarding the deployment of helicopters to search for the missing, "We will work closely with the government to help rescue operations move forward as quickly as possible."
Doosan Enerbility plans to continue search efforts using two private helicopters.
Doosan Group is mobilizing all of its capabilities at the group level to focus on rescuing employees and handling the aftermath of the accident.
The group has decided to provide $5 million in emergency aid to the Rasuwa region of Nepal, equivalent to about 7 billion won.
Immediately after the floods in Nepal, Doosan Enerbility formed an emergency response headquarters and dispatched an on-site response team of seven to eight people, including Vice Chairman and CEO Yeonin Jung, to Nepal.
In an internal message sent on the 27th, Chairman Park referred to the employees who lost contact after the floods in Nepal and said, "The company is taking this situation very seriously." He added, "We are making employee safety checks and their safe return our top priority, and we are closely cooperating with local authorities and related organizations while verifying the situation on the ground through every possible channel. We are concentrating all company-wide capabilities to ensure that the necessary measures for search, rescue and recovery are carried out quickly and systematically."
