Samsung Electronics to Hold 'PlayGalaxy Cup World Final' at 'Gamescom'

[Financial News] Samsung Electronics held the PlayGalaxy Cup World Final at Gamescom 2026, which took place at Koelnmesse in Germany. For the first time this year, the company expanded the event into a regular league format and livestreamed the entire competition, from regional qualifiers to the World Final. Through this, it aims to showcase Galaxy's powerful mobile performance to gamers around the world.
According to the industry on the 30th, the PlayGalaxy Cup is a global tournament that tests mobile gaming skills using Samsung Galaxy smartphones. This year, it was held for the first time in a regular league format, with regional qualifiers leading to the World Final.
The competition held regional qualifiers from February across five regions: North America, Southwest Asia, Southeast Asia, Latin America and Europe.
A total of 32 teams from 17 countries took part in the qualifiers. The top two teams from each region, or 10 teams from nine countries in total, advanced to the World Final held at Gamescom.
The teams selected through the regional qualifiers competed on the World Final stage for the championship title.
All players in the World Final competed using Samsung Electronics' latest flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The final match was livestreamed worldwide through global streamer Ludw1g's YouTube channel. It recorded 12.1 million cumulative views.
A Galaxy experience zone was also set up at the venue, allowing visitors to try the latest Galaxy products and mobile games firsthand. The Malaysian team claimed the title.
