The startup process for restaurants and beauty salons will be shortened, with business registration and business opening notifications handled at once

[Financial News] Going forward, people opening a restaurant or beauty salon will no longer need to visit the tax office again after filing a business opening notification. They will be able to apply for both the business opening notification and business registration at a single city, county or district office with jurisdiction over the business location.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) and the National Tax Service (NTS) announced on the 30th that they will launch the 'one-stop administrative service for business opening notifications and business registration' nationwide across cities, counties and districts starting on the 31st. The service will expand nationwide after a three-month pilot program that began in June in four local governments: Uijeongbu-si, Yangju City, Jincheon County and Gumi.
Previously, anyone opening a restaurant or beauty salon had to first file a business opening notification at the relevant city, county or district office and receive a business notification certificate before visiting the local tax office again to apply for business registration. The process, which required visits to two administrative agencies in sequence, will now be reduced to a single visit.
From now on, applicants only need to submit the business opening notification form and the business registration application form together at the city, county or district office. After processing the notification, the office will send the relevant information and business registration documents to the NTS through the Saeol administrative system, and the NTS will handle the business registration procedure.
There will also be no need to return to the tax office to receive the business registration certificate. The issued certificate can be picked up in person at the tax office or obtained online through Hometax.
The measure applies to eight business categories in the food hygiene and public hygiene sectors, where many small businesses are started. These include snack bars, general restaurants, bakeries, and general beauty, skin care, nail care, makeup and styling, and comprehensive beauty services.
Previously, some documents such as lease agreements had to be submitted separately to each agency, creating inconvenience. MOIS and the NTS linked the computer networks of local governments and the tax service so that the relevant documents can be transferred between agencies. After nationwide implementation, the two agencies plan to review any inconveniences that arise during use and improve the system.
