President Lee Announces Cabinet Reshuffle, Nominates Deputy Prime Minister for Economy, Justice, Defense, Gender Equality, Land and SMEs Ministers

[Financial News] President Lee Jae Myung carried out a cabinet reshuffle on the 30th.
Kang Hoon-sik, chief of staff to the president, announced the reshuffle plan at a briefing at the Chunchugwan Press Center on the day. First, Lee Hyoung-il, first vice minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, was nominated as deputy prime minister for economic affairs and minister of economy and finance. Kim Seung-won, a lawmaker from the Democratic Party of Korea, was nominated for minister of justice, while Kang Shin-chul, former deputy commander of the ROK-U.S. Combined Forces Command, was nominated for minister of national defense.
Hong Ji-seon, second vice minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, was nominated for minister of land, infrastructure and transport, and Democratic Party lawmaker Soyoung Lee was nominated for minister of SMEs and startups. Yong Hye-in, leader of the Basic Income Party, was nominated for minister of gender equality and family.
Follow-up appointments for Cheong Wa Dae staff were also announced. Lee Hae-min, a lawmaker from the Rebuilding Korea Party (RKP), was named as senior presidential secretary for AI future planning. Lee Won-joo, head of energy transition policy at the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, was appointed as presidential aide for mega projects, while former Presidential Committee for the Era of Local Autonomy chair Kim Kyung-soo was appointed as special presidential adviser on government affairs.
In addition, President Lee named Ha Jung-woo, former senior presidential secretary for AI, as vice chairperson of the National AI Strategy Committee under the president.
