Jeju Military Officer in His 20s Who Left Home with Fishing Gear Found Dead at Haye Port

[Financial News Jeju = Reporter Jeong Yong-bok] A junior military officer in his 20s from Jeju Province, who left home with fishing gear and then went out of contact, was found dead on the coast near Haye Port in Seogwipo City. After his family reported him missing, the police, Coast Guard, and fire authorities searched for two days around the location where his vehicle was found before discovering him.
According to the Seogwipo Police Station and the Seogwipo Coast Guard Station on the 29th, A, a man in his 20s, was found dead at around 3:50 p.m. that day on the coast near Haye Port in Seogwipo City.
The Coast Guard, which was conducting the search, found and recovered A's body. His family filed a missing-person report with the police at 2:10 p.m. on the 28th, saying, "My son, who works in Jeju Province, is not answering his phone. I think he may have gone fishing, and I am worried."
Police confirmed that CCTV footage showed A leaving his residence by car on the morning of the 27th after packing fishing gear.
His mobile phone signal was last detected at around 3:30 p.m. that same day. The last known location was near Haye Port in Seogwipo City.
A's vehicle was also found near Haye Port. Police said no fishing rod was found inside the vehicle. A was identified as a junior military officer stationed in Jeju Province.

Once the last location of his phone and the place where his vehicle was found were narrowed down to the Haye Port area, search teams focused their efforts there. Police, fire authorities, and the military launched a joint search on the 28th, but were unable to find A.
On the 29th, police, the Coast Guard, fire authorities, and other agencies continued searching the coastline. Helicopters, drones, boats, and rescue dogs were also deployed.
On the afternoon of the second day of the search, the Coast Guard found A on the coast near Haye Port, bringing the missing-person search to an end.
The focus has now shifted to determining how A moved through the Haye Port area and under what circumstances he died.
Police have confirmed that A left his residence on the 27th with fishing gear, and they have also verified the last location of his phone and the place where his vehicle was found. However, those details alone are not enough to determine the cause of death.
Police and the Coast Guard are investigating the exact circumstances of A's death based on the scene and his final movements.
