'Nepal's Massive Floods' Enter Fourth Day... Death Toll Rises to 633, Nearly 3,000 Missing

[Financial News] On the fourth day since massive flooding struck the Himalayan region along the Nepal-China border, the total death toll confirmed in both countries rose to 633 on the 29th local time, while the number of missing people approached 3,000.
According to foreign media reports on the 29th, Nepal's disaster authorities said 626 people had died so far in the massive floods. On the same day, the number of fatalities linked to a landslide and debris flow in Gyirong County, Rikaze City, in China's Tibet Autonomous Region near the border, also rose from five to seven. As a result, the combined death toll in the two countries was tallied at 633.
The number of missing people also increased. In Nepal, the number of missing people jumped by about 500, from 1,924 to 2,426. Combined with 554 missing people identified in Tibet, the total number of missing people stood at 2,980. More than 500 of the missing are foreign nationals from some 30 countries, including India and the United States. Nine South Koreans, including six employees of Doosan Enerbility and three employees of Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd., are still out of contact.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it plans to send an additional government joint rapid response team to Nepal later in the day, consisting of one ministry official and eight members of the National Fire Agency (NFA). Park Jung-won, chairman of the Doosan Group, also departed for Nepal that day to directly support search and rescue efforts at the accident site where six Doosan Enerbility employees went missing.
