Chinese Instructor Held in Connection With Murder of Chinese Student Taken Nationwide to Search for Body

[Financial News] Police are taking a Chinese university instructor, who was arrested on suspicion of murdering a Chinese student in Gyeongsan, North Gyeongsang Province, on a nationwide search for the victim's body. The victim's family has also entered South Korea and been questioned by police, while staff believed to be from the Chinese consulate visited the Gyeongsan Police Station.
According to the Gyeongsan Police Station in North Gyeongsang Province on the 29th, police deployed detectives from the previous morning and took the 31-year-old Chinese instructor, identified only by his surname Jeong, who was arrested on charges including murder, on a search for the body. Police believe Jeong killed the victim at his home, dismembered the body, and dumped it at multiple locations across the country.
Based on Jeong's movements after the crime, police are focusing their investigation on identifying the exact location where the body was discarded. By transporting him directly in a vehicle, they are expanding the search area.
The victim's family entered South Korea the previous day and was questioned by police. Police plan to call the family in as witnesses to investigate what kind of relationship the victim and Jeong had in daily life.
Police also deployed two staff members from the Women's and Juvenile Division who handle psychological support. The move was intended to help the victim's family regain emotional stability.
Staff believed to be from the Chinese consulate were also confirmed to have visited the Gyeongsan Police Station at around 4 p.m. the previous day. They reportedly remained inside the station for a considerable time after entering.
Jeong was captured on CCTV at around 10:30 p.m. on the 20th as he left his residence wearing women's clothing. Police are questioning Jeong about his motive, the location where he dumped the body, and his movements before and after the crime, while also investigating his relationship with the victim.
