Another Report Filed Just After Jeju Missing-Person False Closure Scandal; Search for Man in His 20s Enters Second Day

According to Seogwipo Police Station and the Jeju Fire and Safety Headquarters on the 29th, police received a report at around 2:10 p.m. the previous day from a family member saying, "My son, who works in Jeju, is not answering his phone."
The missing person is a man in his 20s identified as A. After the report, search teams found his vehicle near Haye Port in Haye-dong, Seogwipo City.
Haye Port is a small harbor on the coast of Yerae-dong, Seogwipo City, where a coastal road and rocky shoreline stretch along the area. As the vehicle was found there, the search has been centered around the harbor and nearby areas.
Since the previous day, police, fire, and military personnel have deployed teams around the location where the vehicle was found and carried out foot searches. Drones and rescue dogs were also brought in to check areas that are difficult for people to access.
However, A was not found on the first day of the search. Search authorities are continuing the joint operation with related agencies on the 29th. Police are also examining A's route of movement and the circumstances under which contact was lost.
Attention is focused on this case against the backdrop of a recent scandal in Jeju involving the false closure of a missing-person report. In this case, the vehicle was located after the family filed the report, and police, fire, and military teams have launched a joint search with foot patrols, drones, and rescue dogs all deployed at once.
