[Hanoi, Vietnam = Kim Kwan-woong, correspondent] The VL Investment Vina consortium has officially broken ground on the GreenBayTech Industrial Park in Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam, with a total project value of 570 billion dong, or about 300.5 billion won. The project is expected to create a new production ecosystem to attract foreign direct investment in local advanced industries, while also serving as an important milestone in deepening strategic cooperation between Korea and Vietnam.
According to local media and other reports on the 28th, the groundbreaking ceremony for the GreenBayTech Industrial Park was held successfully in Quang Ninh Province on the 27th, with local government officials and representatives from Korean companies and institutions in attendance.
The GreenBayTech Industrial Park development covers about 435 hectares and requires total investment of roughly 570 billion dong, or about 300.5 billion won. The project operator, GreenBayTech Industrial Park LLC, is a joint venture established by VL Investment Vina and Global Financial Investment Consulting together with Korean companies.
The industrial park aims to become a high-tech, modern, and eco-friendly complex. It follows an "Industrial Park Version 2" model that strengthens inter-industry links and resource circulation. The operator said it plans to attract FDI projects with advanced technology, high added value, and eco-friendly resource efficiency, while building an industrial ecosystem that promotes technology transfer and supporting industries such as materials, parts, and equipment. The goal is to develop the site into a model industrial park for Quang Ninh Province.

Lee Cheong, chair of the board of GreenBayTech LLC, said, "We will pool financial, technological, and human resources to ensure the project proceeds without setbacks." He added, "We will continue long-term cooperation by treating Quang Ninh Province as our 'second home.'"
Tae-yeon Ko, chairman of the Korean Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (KOCHAM Vietnam), said he expects the GreenBayTech Industrial Park project to become a new platform for economic cooperation that combines Korea's technology and capital with Vietnam's labor force and market, as well as Quang Ninh Province's location and infrastructure.
Vu Van Dien, vice chairperson of the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, said, "We hope the GreenBayTech Industrial Park will lead to quality investment, job creation, and technology transfer." He also promised that local authorities would actively resolve difficulties arising during the project and quickly handle related administrative procedures.
