Foreign investors dump 1.7 trillion won in a single day... KOSPI falls for the first time in four days [fn closing market report]

[Financial News] It could not withstand the foreign investors' wave of selling. The KOSPI closed lower for the first time in four trading days.
  According to the Korea Exchange on the 28th, the KOSPI closed at 6,788.88, down 1.79% from the previous trading day. The index opened at 6,846.54 and rose as high as 6,901.78 during the session, but at one point it also fell to 6,780.13.
Individual investors bought a net 424.5 billion won in the KOSPI, while foreign investors sold a net 1.7563 trillion won and institutions sold a net 284.4 billion won.
Most large-cap stocks were weak overall. Samsung Electronics fell 3.38%, breaking below the 260,000 won level. SK hynix dropped 4.45% to close at 1,653,000 won. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. Preferred Shares (-3.86%), SK Square (-3.75%), LG Energy Solution (-0.13%), and Samsung Biologics (-6.78%) also declined. On the other hand, Samsung Electro-Mechanics (2.60%), KB Financial Group (2.08%), Samsung Life Insurance (0.98%), and Hyundai Motor Company (0.38%) ended higher.
Experts said that although the New York Stock Exchange rose the previous day on the back of NVIDIA Corporation's strong earnings and upbeat sales outlook, caution over external events weighed more heavily on the domestic market.
Lee Kyung-min, a researcher at Daishin Securities, said, "The U.S. market showed strength the previous day on the back of NVIDIA's strong results, but sentiment in the domestic market was weak as external uncertainty weighed on investors." He added, "With the Jackson Hole meeting scheduled for 11 p.m. tonight, caution remains ahead of major events."
The KOSDAQ closed at 838.41, up 0.76 points, or 0.09%, from the previous trading day. Individual investors bought a net 127.5 billion won, while foreign investors and institutions sold 122.9 billion won and 4.4 billion won, respectively.
In the KOSDAQ market, Alteogen Inc. (2.73%), ECOPRO BM (0.17%), LEENO Industrial Inc. (0.15%), HLB Co., Ltd. (1.55%), and PharmaResearch (6.71%) advanced. In contrast, EcoPro (-1.96%), Rainbow Robotics (-3.18%), ILSUNG (-1.28%), WONIK IPS Co., Ltd. (-1.42%), and EO Technics (-1.97%) fell.
