SK Group to Provide 2 Billion Won in Donations for Heavy Rain Recovery

[Financial News] SK Group will provide 2 billion won in donations to support residents in southern regions, including Geoje and Tongyeong, which have suffered major damage from the recent heavy rain. 
SK Group said on the 28th that it will donate 2 billion won through the Community Chest of Korea for disaster recovery and relief for evacuees. The donation will be used to help restore damaged areas and support evacuees in returning to their daily lives. 
Its affiliates have also joined relief efforts. On the 26th, SK hynix provided 630 volunteer kits to Geoje and other rain-hit areas through its Hi-Safety program. Hi-Safety is an annual initiative funded by SK hynix to support disaster relief for evacuees when emergencies occur. 
SK Telecom has also been providing communication convenience facilities, including smartphone charging booths and portable batteries, at two locations in Geoje where temporary shelters have been set up for evacuees, Okpo Elementary School and the Okpo Community Welfare Center, since the 18th. It is also supplying relief items such as towels and wet wipes.
SK Broadband has installed Wi-Fi and IPTV at Okpo Elementary School since the 18th, helping evacuees use communication services without inconvenience even in temporary shelters.
A SK Group official said, "As many people are facing difficulties due to the sudden heavy rain, we will support residents in the affected areas so they can return to their daily lives as soon as possible." The official added, "In addition to the donation, SK Group plans to actively take part in various recovery support efforts."
