Second Flood Looms as Tibetan Dam Collapses Again Just Two Days Later

[Financial News] An alert has been issued that another dam has collapsed in the Himalayan region on the border between Nepal and China, where more than 1,800 people have died or gone missing. Fearing the possibility of additional flooding, rescue teams halted their search and evacuated in an emergency, while residents also fled to higher ground.
Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported on the 28th that Nepal police received information that another dam had collapsed on the Tibet Autonomous Region side of China and issued an emergency evacuation order at the scene.
Nepal police warned, "We have received information that another dam has collapsed on the Tibet side," adding, "All security personnel and rescue workers engaged in rescue and relief operations should remain alert and evacuate immediately to a safe place."
As a result, rescue operations in and around Rasuwa District in Nepal's northern Bagmati Province, where extensive flood damage occurred, were temporarily suspended.
Helicopter rescue operations in the Rasuwa area were also halted, and residents were seen rushing to higher ground to escape the threat of further flooding.
News of the dam collapse came just two days after the massive flood on the 26th. Earlier, disaster authorities in Nepal and China had repeatedly warned that the water level in a lake formed by glaciers, rocks, and sediment blocking the upper reaches of the river was rising, raising the risk of another collapse and downstream flooding.
However, it has not yet been confirmed whether the dam reported to have collapsed this time is the same naturally formed dam that authorities had previously warned was at risk.
