KT Holds 'AI Joint Research Achievement Workshop' with Seoul National University and KAIST

[Financial News] KT has completed research conducted with researchers from Seoul National University and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) to improve the efficiency of artificial intelligence (AI). The company plans to further refine its industry-academia cooperation model to strengthen KT's mid- to long-term AI competitiveness.
On the 30th, industry sources said KT held the 'Final Achievement Workshop for the Seoul National University-KT-KAIST Joint Industry-Academia Research Project' at KT's Umyun Research Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
More than 50 researchers shared the final results of the joint research they carried out over the past year and discussed how KT could apply the related technologies.
KT and Seoul National University focused their research on contextual understanding and reasoning for autonomous agents, evaluation standards and reliability improvements for responsible AI (RAI), securing Korean datasets and developing behavior prediction models, and a user-feedback reinforcement learning framework.
KT also worked with KAIST on prompt compression and optimization technologies. The effort laid the groundwork for reducing the input-processing burden of large language models and improving the inference efficiency of AI models and agent services.
KT said it will push ahead with technology verification and internalization so that the key research outcomes from this joint project can translate into real-world model, platform, and service competitiveness. It also plans to identify follow-up projects that reflect business and technology demand, and expand R&D cooperation in areas such as agentic AI, RAI, physical AI, and token efficiency.
Park Jae-hyung, head of KT's AX Future Technology Institute, said, "Through our collaboration with Seoul National University and KAIST, we have jointly completed the core AI technologies KT needs." He added, "Based on these achievements, we will expand our R&D cooperation model that grows together with universities, and continue developing so that the research results lead to KT's AI competitiveness."
