DJ Sent to Prosecutors After Luring Female Disco Pang Pang Customers Into Loans and Phone Contracts, Stealing 36 Million Won

[Financial News] Two men in their 20s who worked as Disco Pang Pang DJs and targeted female customers they met through the job, stealing millions of won, have been sent to prosecutors.
According to police on the 28th, Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station sent A, 29, to prosecutors in custody the previous day on fraud charges. B, 29, who was less involved in the scheme, was also sent without detention.
They are accused of defrauding two women who visited a Disco Pang Pang venue in Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, from July to December last year of property worth 36 million won.
In particular, A is believed to have lured the victims by telling them, "If you do what I tell you, you can make money and earn money for living expenses," and then induced them to take out online loans, make small payments, and open expensive mobile phone accounts. He later stole the loan money they received and took the phones they had opened, which he then sold on the market.
A and B were friends who had worked as Disco Pang Pang DJs in Incheon and Gyeonggi Province, and they built relationships by exchanging social networking service messages with women of a similar age who visited the venue.
Police said the victims, who were just starting their careers, were left with financial burdens they could not handle, and some of the debts even extended to their families.
A police official said, "We will strictly punish crimes targeting socially vulnerable people in accordance with the law."
