[Financial News] As heavy rain warnings were in effect across parts of the Chungcheong region and the southern regions on the afternoon of the 28th, strong rain of up to 50 mm per hour was falling mainly along the coast of South Gyeongsang Province and in northern South Chungcheong Province. At 2:30 p.m., a heavy rain advisory was also issued for Jincheon County in North Chungcheong Province.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, very heavy rain of 20 to 50 mm per hour was observed in some areas, mainly along the coast of South Gyeongsang Province and in northern South Chungcheong Province. Elsewhere in the Chungcheong region and the southern regions, rainfall of 5 to 20 mm per hour was continuing.
Heavy rain advisories are in effect for some areas of Busan and Gwangju, Suncheon and Gwangyang in Jeollanam-do, Changwon and Goseong County, Gangwon Province in South Gyeongsang Province, and Jincheon County in North Chungcheong Province.
Rain will continue across Gangwon State except for northern inland Gangwon, as well as in the Chungcheong region, the southern regions and Jeju Island. Showers are expected in the Capital Region and northern inland Gangwon until 9 p.m.
In areas where rain or showers fall, gusty winds, thunder and lightning may accompany rainfall of 20 to 30 mm per hour. In some of the heaviest downpours, rainfall could exceed 50 mm per hour.
The Korea Meteorological Administration urged caution, warning that water in rivers and valleys could rise suddenly and that low-lying areas and underpasses could flood. It also advised people to watch out for landslides, soil runoff, backflow from sewers and drains, and traffic accidents caused by slippery roads.
