GeoYoung said on the 28th that it had conducted a joint on-site inspection and local adaptation drill with the Incheon Gyeyang Fire Station on the 26th at its Incheon Center in Hyoseong-dong, Gyeyang District, Incheon.
Large logistics warehouses are difficult to extinguish and make rescue operations challenging in the event of a fire because of their building structure and storage methods. The inspection was therefore designed to identify fire vulnerabilities in advance and establish field strategies for a faster response if an actual accident occurs.
The drill involved about 20 firefighters, including Song Tae-cheol, chief of the Incheon Gyeyang Fire Station, as well as nine fire vehicles, including command and pump trucks. GeoYoung explained the center's operations and facility layout, and the two sides also discussed initial response measures and cooperation with fire authorities in the event of an emergency.
The two sides then jointly inspected key facilities inside the logistics center. In particular, they checked smoke ventilation routes, fire truck access points and working space for firefighters, focusing on the warehouse structure where pharmaceuticals are stored on high racks.
A local adaptation drill based on a simulated fire scenario followed. Fire trucks entered and were positioned inside the logistics center, and the team reviewed response measures suited to the facility, including deploying an aerial ladder truck against the building's exterior wall.
Park Woong, executive vice president of GeoYoung's logistics division, said, "As pharmaceutical logistics centers are key hubs that support the supply chain for essential medicines, thorough safety management is crucial at all times." He added, "We will continue to strengthen our cooperation with fire authorities and do our utmost to prevent fires and respond swiftly at the initial stage."
Meanwhile, GeoYoung regularly conducts fire safety inspections at its business sites nationwide in accordance with its warehouse fire safety management manual, and it also takes part in preventive inspections and joint drills organized by fire authorities.
