Gangwon Chapter of the Smart Manufacturing Technology Companies Association Launches, Accelerating the Shift to Manufacturing AI

[Financial News, Chuncheon = Reporter Kim Gi-seop] The Gangwon Chapter of the Smart Manufacturing Technology Companies Association, which will lead the digital transformation of manufacturing companies in Gangwon State, has officially launched.
According to Gangwon Technopark on the 28th, the launch ceremony for the Jungwon Federation of the Smart Manufacturing Technology Companies Association was held at ENFORD Hotel in Cheongju on the 27th, and the Gangwon Chapter launch ceremony was held as the second part of the event. Officials from the public and private sectors, including Seo Jong-pil, head of the Gangwon Regional Office of SMEs and Startups, Park Young-ah, head of the Gangwon Technopark Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center, and Kang Gwang-woon, head of the Gangwon Chapter, attended the event. They shared the current state of digital transformation in the regional manufacturing industry, discussed challenges faced by companies on the ground, and explored ways to cooperate.
The Gangwon Chapter was established to promote the digital and AI transformation of local manufacturers and to connect the technologies and services needed at production sites. Beyond helping individual companies adopt new technologies, it aims to build a cooperative network linking demand-side companies with smart manufacturing technology firms and to identify manufacturing innovation projects suited to the region's industrial characteristics.
In particular, the Gangwon Chapter will serve as a specialized hub within the Jungwon Federation, which covers South Chungcheong Province, North Chungcheong Province, Daejeon-Sejong, and Gangwon State, taking charge of the digital and AI transformation of key regional industries such as bio, natural-product pharmaceuticals, and agricultural and marine food processing. To that end, it will work with Gangwon Technopark to expand the on-site application of manufacturing innovation technologies such as smart factories, AI, and data utilization based on the needs of manufacturers. It will also continue creating collaboration opportunities that connect technology firms with demand-side companies. In addition, it plans to strengthen its role in linking the government's manufacturing innovation policies with the practical needs of local companies in cooperation with the Gangwon Regional Office of SMEs and Startups and other organizations.
Park Young-ah, head of the Gangwon Technopark Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center, said, "We will narrow the digital gap in Gangwon's manufacturing sites by closely connecting demand-side companies and supply-side companies," adding, "We will continue to push support programs that back the shift to AI."
Seo Jong-pil, head of the Gangwon Regional Office of SMEs and Startups, said, "I hope this launch becomes a turning point that speeds up the digital transformation of local manufacturers," and added, "We will join forces with Gangwon Technopark and the Gangwon Chapter to strengthen manufacturing competitiveness among small and medium-sized enterprises and provide full policy support to help solidify the ecosystem."
