Incheon Office of Education and Amazon Open 'AI Convergence Science Lab' at Geomam Middle School, Strengthening Future-Oriented Inquiry Education

[Financial News, Incheon = Reporter Han Gap-su] The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education has joined forces with global company Amazon.com, Inc. to create a future-oriented science education space where students can explore directly using artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies. According to the office on the 28th, it built an 'AI Convergence Science Lab' at Geomam Middle School as part of efforts to revitalize AI convergence (STEAM) education and foster future talent, and opened it on the 25th.
The project was carried out as part of the office's 'Intelligent Science Lab Development Project.' It was a public-private-academic partnership involving the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education, Amazon.com, Inc., and education space specialist iida Design, creating a future-oriented AI convergence science inquiry space.
The AI Convergence Science Lab will operate as a student-centered learning space where students can use AI, data, sensors and other future technologies to formulate their own questions and conduct inquiry.
The office plans to use the lab for a range of educational programs, including AI convergence (STEAM) project classes linked to the school curriculum, student-led inquiry activities and training to strengthen teachers' capabilities.
Through this, the office aims to help students go beyond simply learning advanced technologies and instead experience the process of identifying and solving real-world problems, while developing creative and convergent thinking skills.
An official from the office said, "We will continue to expand AI convergence (STEAM) education by broadening cooperative systems that connect the expertise and resources of schools, companies and local communities."
