Incheon Environmental Corporation Prepares Solutions to Field Problems Through AI and New Technologies

[Financial News, Incheon = Reporter Han Gap-su] Incheon Environmental Corporation is moving to identify on-site issues at sewage and resource-circulation facilities and develop solutions that combine artificial intelligence (AI) and new technologies.
The corporation said on the 28th that it will conduct the '2026 Second-Half Research Activity Field Survey' at 10 facilities through Sept. 7.
The survey, which began on the 18th, was designed to allow the corporation's research division to visit each facility in person, review progress on first-half research projects, and assess operational issues and technical support needs.
Through the survey, the corporation plans to examine the progress and future plans of research projects currently under way, including performance-sharing programs, CoP learning organizations, and in-house research.
In particular, it will share operational difficulties with staff in charge of process and safety at each facility and identify new research projects needed to improve operating efficiency and safety. It also plans to focus on improving environmental infrastructure facilities and expanding field applications using AI and new technologies.
Key AI development projects under way at the corporation include upgrading an AI-based effluent water quality prediction system, AI hazard detection technology based on body cams worn by field workers, AI-based hazard and behavior detection in diving pools, and the application of an AI-based flame detection system.
If projects identified in the field are too difficult for the corporation to resolve on its own or require separate technical verification, it plans to pursue them in connection with national R&D support programs or the Incheon Startup Park public demonstration project.
It will also expand demonstration opportunities that link innovative technologies held by environmental companies with the corporation's environmental infrastructure facilities, allowing them to verify performance and applicability in real operating environments.
