Kakao to Launch 'AI for All' on KakaoTalk... Beta Release Set for September

[Financial News] The Kakao consortium has been selected by the Ministry of Science and ICT as the operator for AI for All, a national AI service project. The company plans to deliver AI services through KakaoTalk as the main point of contact, using its own AI models such as Kakao's Kanana and LG AI Research's EXAONE.
Kakao said on the 28th that a consortium led by LG Uplus has been selected as the final operator for the AI for All project.
The consortium includes 14 companies and institutions, including LG AI Research, LG Electronics, LG CNS, Kakao Enterprise, Seoul National University Hospital, Shinhan Bank, Lunit, Wonderful Platform, Worksphere, Jobis & Villains, Day1 Company, Crowdworks, and Furiosa AI.
The consortium plans to build the service by combining its in-house AI models with telecommunications and device infrastructure, as well as its ability to connect with public systems. It will also draw on the expertise of participating companies in areas such as healthcare, finance, and tax services.
The AI for All service will consist of a general-purpose AI chatbot, a public AI agent, and specialized AI agents for different fields. The company plans to make the service accessible through KakaoTalk and phone-based AI, which people already use in daily life. It will also improve accessibility for digitally vulnerable groups, including older adults and people with disabilities.
The consortium will unveil a beta service in September. After gathering feedback from users and improving the service, it plans to launch the full service within the year.
Kim Se-woong, leader of AI synergy performance at Kakao, explained, "The core of this service is to let people easily experience AI through the familiar KakaoTalk platform, and to go beyond simple information searches by seamlessly connecting a wide range of everyday tasks."
Gojin-tae, head of enterprise strategy at LG Uplus, said, "We will fulfill our role and responsibility as a key participant so that we can contribute to revitalizing the domestic AI ecosystem by bringing together the capabilities of Kakao and the LG Group."
