"Helping Young Creators Grow" Canon Korea Inc. to Hold 'Mirae Artist Award'

[Financial News] Canon Korea Inc. will recruit applicants for the 2026 photo and video categories of the Mirae Artist Award, a program designed to discover and nurture emerging artists. The goal is to help young creators develop their own artistic vision and grow into artists who will lead photo and video culture.
Canon Korea Inc. said on the 28th that applications for the Mirae Artist Award will be accepted from Oct. 5 to 12.
Now in its 20th year, the Mirae Artist Award is Canon Korea Inc.'s flagship arts support program. It has discovered young talent in photography and video and supported their continued creative work. The program began in 2007 as the 'Canon Scholarship' for college students majoring in photography. In 2008, it established a co-hosting system with the Parkgeonhi Foundation to strengthen fairness. In 2010, it removed major restrictions to reflect changes in the creative environment, where disciplinary boundaries were becoming less distinct, and renamed the program the 'Mirae Artist Award,' meaning open hope for all college students who dream through photography. Since 2022, it has selected winners in both the photo and video categories to reflect the diversity of creative media.
The 2026 Mirae Artist Award is open to any college student nationwide, regardless of major, and will select a total of four winners across the photo and video categories. Applicants must submit a new project proposal, an existing portfolio, proof of enrollment, and an application form for the 2026 Mirae Artist Award. For the photo category, applicants should submit JPG files of up to 10 photos along with a project note. For the video category, applicants should submit a YouTube URL and a project note as their portfolio.
The judging process will consist of a first round based on the project proposal and portfolio, followed by a second round interview. Final winners will receive an 'EOS R6 Mark III 24-105 USM KIT' for the photo category and an 'EOS R6 V 20-50 PZ KIT' for the video category.
Using the camera and lens provided as prizes, the winners will produce photo and video works based on their project plans for about 10 months and receive tutoring from photographer Hein-Kuhn Oh and the judges. The completed works will be exhibited at Canon Gallery in November 2027 and published as a collection.
