Ewha Womans University and Peking University Mark 30 Years of Exchange, Expand Cooperation in AI and Future Education

[Financial News]  Ewha Womans University and Peking University in China have agreed to expand cooperation in artificial intelligence, future education and science and technology as they mark the 30th anniversary of their exchange agreement.
Ewha Womans University said on the 28th that President Lee Hyang-sook met with Peking University President Gao Song at Aryeong Hall on campus on the 14th and discussed ways to broaden educational and research cooperation between the two schools.
Ewha Womans University and Peking University began exchanges in 1989, before South Korea and China established diplomatic ties, and signed a formal agreement in 1996. Since then, they have continued student exchanges as well as exchanges of faculty, students and materials, along with cooperation between undergraduate colleges and departments. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the formal agreement.
At the meeting, the two universities discussed AI and digital education, basic science, scientific and technological innovation, and the nurturing of women talent as key areas of cooperation. They also reviewed ways to connect their AI education and research capabilities, expand academic exchanges among scholars, increase student exchanges, and develop joint educational programs.
The Peking University delegation included President Gao Song, who took office this year, along with Song-Chun Zhu, dean of the College of Intelligent Science and Technology, Tang Shiqi, dean of the International College, and four others. From Ewha Womans University, attendees included President Lee Hyang-sook, Vice President for Academic Affairs Park Sung-yeon, Dean of the College of Artificial Intelligence Lee Min-su, and Vice President for International Affairs Youngjeen Cho.
President Gao said, "The friendly cooperative relationship between our two universities has lasted for more than 30 years." He added, "We hope to further expand cooperation in digital and intelligent education, the training of women scientists and engineers, and academic exchanges among scholars."
President Lee said, "We hope practical cooperation between our two universities will expand in a wide range of areas, including AI education and research, interdisciplinary convergence, and the cultivation of future talent."
