Cosmax to Join Indonesia's First Cosmetics Department

[Financial News] Cosmax, a global original development manufacturing (ODM) company in the cosmetics industry, will help train local talent by taking part in the launch of Indonesia's first cosmetics-focused department.
According to industry sources on the 28th, Cosmax will join the new Cosmetology undergraduate program at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Padjadjaran, as the industry representative.
The newly established department is Indonesia's first undergraduate program dedicated to cosmetics. It will cover the full cosmetics research and development (R&D) process, from basic studies on skin and hair to formulation development and safety and efficacy testing.
The new department is expected to help shift Indonesia's manufacturing-centered cosmetics industry toward a more research-driven model. It will also help train specialists who can respond to the mandatory Halal Certification in Indonesia set to take effect in October and to tighter cosmetics regulations.
Cosmax has also been selected as the current industry partner for the Indonesian government's project to commercialize research results, known as the ABG program. COSMAX Indonesia plans to develop antioxidant ingredients using Tempoyak, a local fermented food made with durian. It will also support the establishment of an on-campus training plant where students can experience the process of turning research results into actual manufacturing. The company plans to run a year-round internship program to actively recruit and nurture locally tailored R&D talent.
