KIMFT Holds Job Fair for Ocean Polytech Fishing Vessel Class 5 Maritime Officers

[Financial News] KIMFT announced on the 28th that it held the '2026 Ocean Polytech Fishing Vessel Class 5 Maritime Officer Job Fair' on the 26th in the multipurpose lecture room at its Busan headquarters.
Ocean Polytech is a training program designed to cultivate young fishing vessel officers with practical on-site skills, serving as an alternative to problems such as declining fishing village populations and the aging of fishing vessel crews. The event was organized as a recruitment meeting between Ocean Polytech graduates-to-be and fishing vessel operators, creating a job platform for young maritime officers.
The event targeted 38 trainees in the Ocean Polytech Fishing Vessel Class 5 Maritime Officer program, who are set to complete the course on the 18th of next month. On the day, eight deep-sea and coastal fishing companies, including Dongwon Industries and SAJO INDUSTRIES, took part in large numbers and conducted recruitment interviews and job counseling for the trainees.
Trainees selected through the interviews will board the participating companies as one-month trainee officers after completing the course on the 18th of next month. After gaining the practical experience needed for service on fishing vessels through on-site training, they will move on to become full-fledged fishing vessel officers.
Meanwhile, Ocean Polytech is a government-supported training program that allows people who did not graduate from a fisheries-related boarding department to pursue careers as fishing vessel officers. Launched in 2006, the program has trained a total of 454 young fishing vessel officers over the past 21 years, becoming a key channel for easing labor shortages in the fisheries industry.
President Yoon Hyun-soo said, "We hope this job fair will be a great opportunity for Ocean Polytech trainees to advance into careers as fishing vessel officers and a place for shipping companies to secure the talent they need." He added, "We will continue to work closely with the government, related agencies, and the fisheries industry to train outstanding fishing vessel officers who meet on-site demand, thereby contributing to a stable labor supply in the fisheries sector."
