[Financial News] DEEPNOID is expanding its medical artificial intelligence (AI) business beyond detecting cerebrovascular lesions to quantitative analysis that measures changes in brain structure. The company is speeding up the expansion of its DEEP:NEURO product line by quantifying brain MRI data, moving beyond simple image reading.
According to DEEPNOID on the 28th, the company has completed the approval process with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for its Class 1 software medical device, DEEP:NEURO BrainSeg.
DEEP:NEURO BrainSeg automatically segments major anatomical structures in brain MRI scans and provides volume data for each region, along with percentile information compared with reference values. It can also track structural changes by comparing past and current images, and it automatically calculates MRPI, a quantitative indicator used as a reference in Parkinsonism assessment.
In the medical AI industry, quantitative analysis technology that measures and compares long-term structural changes is emerging as another key area of competition, following detection-based AI that identifies specific lesions in images. In particular, as imaging tests for degenerative brain diseases increase amid an aging population, demand for reading efficiency and data standardization is also expected to grow.
For DEEPNOID, this broadens the scope of its existing DEEP:NEURO business, which had focused on cerebrovascular disease. By expanding its portfolio from MRA-based cerebrovascular lesion detection to MRI-based quantitative analysis of brain structure, the company is extending its reach into markets related to degenerative brain diseases such as dementia and Parkinson's disease.
The company has also designed the system to provide integrated reports and connect with hospital PACS. The strategy goes beyond simply delivering AI analysis results and aims to link the solution to the actual workflow of medical institutions, from interpretation and result review to patient consultation.
Industry observers say the competitive focus in the medical AI market is also shifting beyond the accuracy of individual reading algorithms toward seamless integration with hospital systems. Analysts note that securing both AI products and medical institution operating platforms could become a key factor in determining how far medical AI companies can expand their businesses.
Meanwhile, DEEPNOID also completed approval earlier this month for its remote reading operations platform, AxonFlow. The company plans to expand both its reading AI and operating platform at the same time, with the goal of growing into a medical AI provider that supports the full clinical workflow.
