Mercedes-Benz to Provide 500 Million Won for a Multipurpose Cultural Space for Busan Youth

[Financial News] The Mercedes-Benz Corporate Social Responsibility Committee said on the 28th that it held a donation ceremony at Busan City Hall on the 27th for the creation of a youth-only multipurpose cultural space, and delivered 500 million won out of the 1 billion won raised through the 13th Mercedes-Benz Give 'N Race held in April this year.
The ceremony was attended by Shirin Emira, chair of the Mercedes-Benz Corporate Social Responsibility Committee, and Lee Sang-guk, along with Busan Metropolitan City Mayor Chun Jae-soo, Kim Byung-gi, head of the ChildFund Korea Foundation, and Choi Byung-han, CEO of Busan MBC.
Emira said, "I find it meaningful that the warm hearts of participants gathered through Give 'N Race will lead to a new space where Busan teenagers can stay freely, gain diverse experiences, and grow." She added, "We will continue social contribution activities that can make a practical contribution to the growth of future generations and the development of local communities."
The support was launched to create a dedicated space where Busan teenagers can stay freely and take part in a variety of cultural and hands-on activities. The donated funds will be used to remodel an idle space in Song Sang-hyeon Square in Busanjin District into a youth-only multipurpose cultural space called "Youth PLAY & ESG," covering about 315 square meters, or 95 pyeong. The money will also go toward installing furniture and experience equipment, as well as developing program content. The space is scheduled to open in 2027.
The Mercedes-Benz Corporate Social Responsibility Committee has steadily supported projects to build facilities for children and teenagers in local communities with donations raised through the citizen-participation charity run Give 'N Race. Of the 1 billion won raised at this year's 13th Give 'N Race, 500 million won will go to the establishment of a Child Protection Agency in Dongducheon-si, while the remaining 500 million won will be used to create the youth-only multipurpose cultural space in Busan.
Meanwhile, in cooperation with Busan Metropolitan City, the Mercedes-Benz Corporate Social Responsibility Committee has hosted Give 'N Race in Busan since 2020. To date, it has donated a cumulative 3 billion won for children and teenagers in the city, supporting the growth and development of future generations.
