The event is characterized by going beyond a simple idea contest to allow participants to compete in a manner similar to actual alternative investment deals, covering everything from development concepts and investment structures to profitability and financing.
According to Maston Investment Management on the 28th, the awards ceremony for the '2026 Maston Investment Management Idea Contest' was held at Kyobo Tower in Seoul on the 27th. The grand prize asset for the first contest was the 'Musinsa Seongsu E4 Development Project.
' Participants designed development directions and investment structures and reviewed business feasibility based on the actual project. A total of 43 teams and 119 individuals applied for the competition.
Seven teams and 21 participants who passed the document screening advanced to the final presentation (PT) on the 21st to compete in a practical IR format. The judges focused their evaluation on not only the distinctiveness of the development concept but also the logic of the investment structure, profitability and fundraising feasibility, market analysis, and risk response capabilities.
In particular, this competition is noteworthy for moving away from the traditional method where asset management companies unilaterally present completed development plans, instead incorporating fresh, external perspectives into actual projects. It can be seen as a form of "open innovation" experiment aimed at discovering talent in the alternative investment industry while securing new development and investment ideas.
The Grand Prize was awarded to the "Tiltil-i-deul" team. The Top Excellence Award went to "Seongdaehage," and the Gold Prize was awarded to the "E6" team.
The Silver Prize was awarded to "Miniwalpi" and "Archive," while the Bronze Prize went to "Gugu1 Team" and "High Prime. " A total of 10 teams, including special award winners, were named.
The total prize money amounted to 24 million won, with 10 million won awarded to the grand prize winner.
Park Hyung-seok, CEO of Maston Investment Management, remarked, "In the world of investment and real estate, those who ask good questions first are sometimes the ones who change the market, rather than those with perfect ideas," adding, "I was able to confirm new perspectives that I hadn't even considered in the proposals from the participating teams.
" Meanwhile, within the real estate IB industry, there is an assessment that this method of talent scouting utilizing actual assets is noteworthy, as the competitiveness of asset managers is shifting from simple fundraising to asset discovery and differentiated development strategies following the real estate market downturn.
