Trump's 'fighter' Karoline Leavitt steps down as White House press secretary

[Financial News] Karoline Leavitt, who served as the youngest White House press secretary in history and defended U.S. President Donald Trump with aggressive rhetoric, completed her final day of work and stepped down on the 27th local time. Her successor has not yet been announced.
According to local media including CNN, The White House issued a press release titled "Never Surrender - Leavitt's Historic Tenure as Press Secretary" and praised her achievements. On her last day, she met with reporters and said, "I will miss you all," adding, "No one expected me to say this, but it was truly great working with you."
Appointed as press secretary when the Trump administration began its second term in 2025, she was 27 at the time, making her the youngest person ever to hold the post. She aggressively and one-sidedly defended Trump, often dismissing reporters' questions as "really stupid questions."
CNN said that while a press secretary is almost unnecessary because Trump communicates directly with the public through interviews and social media, Leavitt's departure is still a significant personal and political loss. Trump has reportedly not yet chosen her successor.
Leavitt, who worked on Trump's campaign during the 2024 presidential election, returned to the campaign immediately after the July assassination attempt against Trump that same year. She gave birth to her second child in May. On the 12th, Trump wrote on Truth Social that "Karoline Leavitt, a great White House press secretary and one of my most trusted aides, will step down at the end of this month to spend more time with her young child and family." In an announcement on the 21st, Leavitt said she would work for a Trump-related Super PAC. She is expected to join one of the Super PACs, "MAGA Inc.," but her exact title and duties have not been confirmed.
