Trump says U.S. will support Nepal flood relief, hoping Americans are safe

[Financial News] U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States will support relief efforts for the flood disaster in Nepal and Tibet, where hundreds of foreigners, including Americans, are missing.
According to local media, including AP, Trump told reporters at The White House on the 27th (local time), "We reached out to Nepal and said we would provide whatever help they need." He added, "It was truly brutal. I don't think anyone has ever seen strong, sturdy, well-built buildings swept away like toothpicks," and said, "We are sending relief supplies."
Trump said there were "about 50, maybe 60 Americans" at the flood site. "We don't have the full list yet, but I hope they are safe," he said. At the same time, he added, "But it did not look like that would be the case, and unfortunately, it appears there will be casualties."
Earlier, around 8:37 a.m. on the 26th, a massive flood hit parts of Bagmati Province in north-central Nepal near the border with China. The flooding triggered large-scale landslides in both Nepal and China. As of the 27th, Nepal police said the death toll from the floods and landslides had reached 359. The number of missing people was reported at 910, including 517 foreigners. At least 73 people were also confirmed injured.
According to Xinhua News Agency and CCTV on the 27th, 558 people were missing after a landslide in Gyirong County, Xigaze, Tibet Autonomous Region, the previous day. Of those missing, 260 were foreigners. The flood- and landslide-hit areas are popular with tourists and pilgrims during the summer.
On the 26th, President Xi Jinping ordered rescue operations and support measures, saying, "The urgent task is to mobilize every possible means to search for and rescue the missing, evacuate and resettle residents under threat, and speed up treatment for the injured in order to minimize casualties as much as possible."
According to Sputnik news agency, the Kremlin on the 27th released a condolence message that Russian President Vladimir Putin sent to Xi Jinping, saying he expressed his sincere condolences over the disaster.
