Jeju education activity protection to work on the ground... Jeju Provincial Council to redesign support system

[Financial News Jeju = Reporter Jung Yong-bok] The Jeju Provincial Council and the education community will join forces to establish a protection system that can practically resolve the difficulties teachers face during educational activities on site. The focus will be on diagnosing the realities and problems of educational activity protection, examining whether examples from other regions can be applied to Jeju, and building a comprehensive support system.
According to the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Council on the 28th, the policy forum on building a system to protect educational activities will be held at 3 p.m. that day in the council's main conference room.
The forum, hosted and organized by the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Council Education Committee, chaired by Kang Dong-woo, is expected to draw about 100 participants, including provincial council members, teachers' groups, frontline school teachers, parents, and government officials.
The committee organized the forum to review how educational activity protection is actually being carried out, identify problems raised on site, and share examples of effective protection systems in order to find a comprehensive support plan suited to Jeju.
The key theme is, 'How can we build practical protection for educational activities?' Lee Pil-woo, the official in charge of educational activity protection at the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education, will deliver the main presentation for 30 minutes and introduce examples of how protection systems are built and operated in the field.
A designated discussion will follow, with representatives from various sectors of Jeju's education community taking part. Song Chang-gwon of the Jeju Provincial Council will serve as moderator, while Kim Hye-ji of the Jeju Provincial Council, Yoon Cheol-hoon, head of the education bureau at the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education, Jang Jeong-hoon, chairman of the Jeju Teachers’ Association Federation, Han Jeong-woo, leader of the Jeju Teachers’ Union, Noh Seung-nam, chairman of the Jeju School Steering Committee Chairs’ Council, and Ahn Jae-hong, a special research fellow at the Educational Science Research Institute, Jeju National University, will speak as panelists.
With the provincial council, the education office, teachers' groups, the teachers' union, parents, and university researchers all gathering in one place, the forum is expected to go beyond treating educational activity protection as the responsibility of a single institution and instead discuss a support system that connects schools, administration, and policy.
In particular, participants are expected to exchange views on how to apply educational activity protection cases from other regions to Jeju schools and what needs to be improved in existing support processes.
At the opening ceremony, Kang Dong-woo, chair of the Jeju Provincial Council Education Committee, is expected to explain the need to strengthen the protection system for educational activities and outline the council's future policy support direction.
After the designated discussion, the forum will also include a question-and-answer session. This will allow teachers, parents, and other on-site stakeholders to raise issues directly and offer suggestions for institutional reform.
Based on this discussion, the Jeju Provincial Council Education Committee plans to clarify the current state and problems of educational activity protection and seek a support system that links related institutions such as the education office, schools, and teachers' groups.
