Chinese Instructor Jeong Refuses Psychopathy Test After Gyeongsan Murder of Chinese Student

[Financial News] Jeong, a 31-year-old Chinese part-time lecturer who was arrested on charges of murdering a Chinese graduate student he taught in Gyeongsan, North Gyeongsang Province, has refused to undergo a psychopathy diagnostic test.
According to the Gyeongsan Police Station in North Gyeongsang Province on the 28th, police tried to conduct the test on Jeong the previous day by deploying two profilers, but he did not cooperate.
Investigators said Jeong had initially agreed to the test but later changed his mind.
Police explained that the psychopathy diagnostic test is conducted through an interview with the subject, so it is difficult to carry it out by force if the person refuses to participate.
Police are also considering the possibility that Jeong refused the test because of its potential impact on his upcoming trial.
Jeong reportedly hired a lawyer on the 27th.
Investigators said Jeong killed A, a 25-year-old Chinese student, at his residence in Hayang-eup, Gyeongsan, North Gyeongsang Province, in the early hours of the 20th, dismembered the body, and abandoned the remains at several locations across the country.
He is also accused of misleading investigators by leaving the scene in women’s clothing, taking a taxi to Dongdaegu Station, and filing a false report to police after the crime.
Based on Jeong’s statements and CCTV footage, police have been searching for the body for several days in areas including Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, and Angang and Bulguksa in Gyeongju.
Police plan to recover as much of the body as possible, conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and time of death, and then consider whether to add charges related to mutilation and abandonment of a corpse.
Given the brutality of the crime, police are also coordinating a schedule for a meeting of the Personal Information Disclosure Review Committee and are focusing investigative resources on determining the motive.
