Jang Dong-hyuk to Visit Jeju Site of 'False Closure' Case on the 28th

[Financial News, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province = Reporter Song Ji-won]Jang Dong-hyuk, leader of the People Power Party, will visit Jeju Province on the 28th and go to the site where the late Ms. Jang was found dead, as well as the Jeju Provincial Police Agency. He plans to point to allegations of a botched police investigation tied to the controversy over the false closure of a missing-person case in Jeju, and to argue that the situation could worsen if prosecutors' supplementary investigative powers are abolished.
Speaking to reporters during the lawmakers' workshop in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, on the 27th, Jang said, "I will go there to make clear that the truth behind cases like this must be fully uncovered, and that thoroughly investigating and informing the public about whether falsely closed missing-person cases are connected to crimes, or whether other forces are behind them, is essential."
The People Power Party says prosecutors' supplementary investigative powers are necessary to prevent inadequate police investigations. The Democratic Party of Korea (DPK), meanwhile, plans to offset any side effects through police reform.
