Speaking to reporters during the lawmakers' workshop in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, on the 27th, Jang said, "I will go there to make clear that the truth behind cases like this must be fully uncovered, and that thoroughly investigating and informing the public about whether falsely closed missing-person cases are connected to crimes, or whether other forces are behind them, is essential."
The People Power Party says prosecutors' supplementary investigative powers are necessary to prevent inadequate police investigations. The Democratic Party of Korea (DPK), meanwhile, plans to offset any side effects through police reform.
