Sanigen to Host Symposium on Next-Generation Antibacterial Agents

[Financial News] Sanigen, a company specializing in genome-based microbial diagnostics and control, will hold the "Opening an Era of Antibiotics Without Resistance: 2026 Endolysin-Based Next-Generation Antibacterial Agent Symposium" on the 28th at Jeongdong 1928 Art Center in Seoul. The symposium will serve as an official event to announce Sanigen's leap forward as a next-generation innovative biotech company, built on its accumulated strengths in genome-based microbial diagnostics and control technologies and big data capabilities. In particular, it will unveil the mid- to long-term vision of the "K-HERO" research consortium, launched as a national project by the Ministry of Science and ICT, and officially present the "Second-Generation Endolysin Engineering Development Roadmap" to overcome the limitations of first-generation endolysin. Sanigen has commercialized its proprietary molecular diagnostic technologies based on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and Next-generation sequencing (NGS), leading the field of on-site food poisoning pathogen and virus diagnostics across institutional food service, the food industry, defense, and healthcare.
As the popularization of molecular diagnostics rapidly expands the market for harmful microorganism diagnostics and control, Sanigen plans to combine its advanced genomic data and technological capabilities to broaden its business beyond diagnostics and control into the development of next-generation antibacterial therapeutics.
At the event, Sanigen will unveil a second-generation R&D model that integrates its microbial genome analysis capabilities with AI-based precision protein design technology and a high-speed synthesis platform called Biofoundry. The company will also share its vision for developing new drugs that maximize targeted bactericidal activity and in vivo stability.
The event will begin with an introduction to the development strategy and background by Sangryeol Ryu, Sanigen's chief scientific adviser and a leading domestic authority on endolysin research, formerly a professor at Seoul National University. Park Jeong-ung, CEO of Sanigen, is scheduled to present the company's vision of evolving from a microbial diagnostics and control specialist into a global innovative biotech company, as well as the direction of the K-HERO national research consortium. In the main session that follows, researchers from industry and academia will present their core strategies for moving beyond the limitations of first-generation platforms and advancing to a second-generation platform.
