[Financial News] SK ecoplant will absorb and merge with its subsidiary SK Eco Engineering. The move is aimed at accelerating its push to become a provider of AI infrastructure solutions.
According to the Data Analysis, Retrieval and Transfer System (DART) of the Financial Supervisory Service on the 27th, SK ecoplant will absorb and merge with its wholly owned subsidiary SK Eco Engineering. The merger date is December 1.
The goal is to improve management efficiency and maximize synergies in the AI infrastructure business. SK ecoplant also aims to integrate and strengthen project execution capabilities that are scattered across the company, while responding to a recent surge in investment and expansion of new facilities such as semiconductor fabrication plants and AI data centers. SK Eco Engineering has handled energy infrastructure projects, including combined-cycle power plants, cogeneration facilities and terminals in South Korea and overseas, as well as advanced industrial plants for batteries, lithium-ion battery separators and bio businesses.
SK ecoplant expects that combining its construction and project management capabilities with SK Eco Engineering's engineering expertise in plants and advanced industrial facilities will allow it to manage costs and schedules from the early stages of a project. That, in turn, would strengthen its bidding competitiveness and profitability at the same time. An SK ecoplant official said, "We will continue profit-oriented growth by strengthening our competitiveness in AI infrastructure orders."
