Park Geun-hye: "If the opposition unites, it can become the majority party... It can win back power"

[Financial News, Goyang, Gyeonggi-do = Jiwon Song]Former President Park Geun-hye said on the 27th that the People Power Party, "though it is struggling as a small opposition party, could become the majority party if it pulls together and works hard." She added that it could "win back power."
Park delivered the message in a special lecture at the People Power Party lawmakers' retreat in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do, stressing the need for unity within the party.
Park emphasized, "When fighting an enemy outside, nothing is more frightening than division within." She added, "If we are already at a disadvantage against the majority and then become divided as well, the outcome of that fight is obvious."
She continued, "In difficult times, we must move forward in unity and solidarity around the leadership. The leadership and all of you should come together as one in a spirit of comradeship and faithfully carry out each of your roles." She also said, "If you make these efforts sincerely, the public will find hope in you and will surely give you a chance."
Her remarks are seen as likely to bolster Jang Dong-hyuk, who has recently been mired in internal conflict over harsh disciplinary action against non-faction lawmakers. Jang recently drew criticism even from senior party members after disciplining four non-faction lawmakers: Cho Kyoung-tae, Kwon Young-jin, Seo Beom-su, and Jin Jong-oh.
Ahead of the regular National Assembly session starting on the 1st of next month, the People Power Party plans to focus its full efforts on attacking the ruling bloc over housing supply measures, tax reform proposals, and stock market volatility.
