Incheon Transportation Corporation pushes to build AI-based rail management system (Rail Doctor)

[Financial News, Incheon = Reporter Han Gap-su] Incheon Transportation Corporation will join forces with KRRI to build an AI-based rail track maintenance system. The corporation said on the 27th that it had signed an MOU with KRRI on the "AI-based track maintenance platform (Rail Doctor)".
Rail Doctor is a digital rail infrastructure maintenance platform that analyzes condition data collected from railway facilities and recommends the proper timing for maintenance.
Under the agreement, KRRI will develop the Rail Doctor platform by reflecting the corporation's on-site requirements, based on field data and testbeds provided by Incheon Transportation Corporation. Once the project is completed, the developed platform will be transferred to Incheon Transportation Corporation.
The two organizations have maintained a cooperative relationship to apply AI-based rail maintenance technology in the field by carrying out various joint projects, including long rail data analysis, measurement, and Rail Doctor platform development.
In this project, they will use the data accumulated so far to integrate and manage a wide range of field information, including track data, rail wear, track irregularities, temperature and humidity, rail profiles, and inspection records. Based on this, Incheon Transportation Corporation plans to build a system in which AI predicts rail lifespan and suggests the optimal maintenance measures.
The two organizations plan to complete platform development and demonstration by the end of 2026 and then gradually expand the scope of field application. They expect the project to enable data-driven preventive maintenance, improving the efficiency of rail facility management and the safety of train operations.
