Incheon Transit Corporation strengthens safety measures for the second half after analyzing unusual train incidents

【Financial News, Incheon = Reporter Han Gap-su】 Incheon Transit Corporation analyzed disruptions and potential risk factors that occurred during train operations in the first half of the year and is moving to strengthen safety measures in the second half.
Incheon Transit Corporation said on the 27th that it held a report session on unusual incidents in the operation of Lines 1, 2 and 7 in the first half of 2026 to improve passenger safety and convenience and ensure more reliable train operations.
The session was designed not only to review operating results, but also to transparently share disruptions and potential risks identified in the field and to establish fundamental improvement measures.
Nine technical departments, including control, rolling stock, electricity, signaling, communications, and civil engineering and track, took part in the meeting. They shared accumulated information by department and discussed the root causes of problems and comprehensive safety measures through cross-functional cooperation.
In particular, the corporation focused on technical vulnerabilities caused by changes in the operating environment, such as the opening of the Geomdan extension line and the aging of existing facilities. Based on the analysis, it also drew up customized improvement measures grounded in field data, including parts localization and the digital transformation of analog equipment.
ITC said it will reflect the improvement tasks identified at the session in its safety management plan for the second half of the year and reduce potential risks in facilities and operations in advance to enhance the stability of train service.
ITC President Choi Jeong-gyu said, "We will immediately incorporate the fundamental measures identified at this session into our second-half plan and provide citizens with safer and more comfortable public transportation services."
