According to Dongbu Corporation's first-half business report released on the 27th, plant revenue on a separate basis came to 153.5 billion won, up 54.5% from 99.3 billion won in the same period last year. Among major business categories, including civil engineering and building construction, this marked the highest revenue growth rate.
Given that full-year plant revenue last year was 196.7 billion won, the company has already achieved about 78% of that figure.
Growth was especially strong in the second quarter. Plant revenue in the second quarter of this year reached about 82.8 billion won, more than doubling from 37.1 billion won in the same period last year. Following about 70.7 billion won in the first quarter, sales continued to expand.
The growth was driven by an expansion in projects for advanced industrial facilities, including semiconductors. Dongbu Corporation is currently carrying out major industrial facility projects, such as the expansion work at Amkor Technology Korea's Songdo plant and the construction of a mutual cooperation facility for SK hynix's Yongin Semiconductor Cluster.
To support the expansion of its plant business, the company has also begun hiring specialized personnel. Through recruitment running from the 19th to the 30th, it plans to significantly increase staffing in plant construction, project administration, estimating, design, and business operations.
Dongbu Corporation said it will secure specialized talent in advance to ensure stable execution at existing sites and to pursue new projects, further strengthening the foundation for growth in its plant business. In particular, it plans to expand its portfolio by broadening its business into semiconductor production and support facilities, advanced materials and components, as well as logistics and production facilities. A company official said, "We will continue to enhance our competitiveness in advanced industrial facility projects, including semiconductors, and develop plants into a key growth engine."
