News1 [Financial News] Homeplus suppliers have demanded a review of the repayment plan for commercial public interest claims included in the rehabilitation plan, raising issues of fairness. According to the Homeplus Commercial Public Interest Creditors' Council on the 27th, the council submitted a second opinion statement to the Seoul Bankruptcy Court on the 24th.
The council argued that even among public interest claims, there are significant differences in the timing and ratio of repayment depending on the nature of the debt. 3 billion won, is scheduled to be repaid by February 2027 and fully repaid by February 2028.
5% during the same period. 3 trillion won by February 2028.
The council expressed concern that if payment for delivered goods is delayed for a long period, it could exacerbate the financial difficulties of small and medium-sized suppliers and disrupt the supply of goods. Accordingly, major stakeholders, including major shareholders MBK Partners and Meritz Financial Group, demanded that measures be devised to share the additional burden and enhance the suppliers' capacity to repay.
Kim Tae-hee, an attorney at LKB Pyeongsan representing the council, stated, "The purpose of rehabilitation is not to reduce the burden on specific stakeholders, but to normalize the company and minimize damage to all stakeholders in the process.
" She added, "The current repayment structure, which demands long-term sacrifices solely from suppliers, must be re-examined, and a win-win plan must be devised to ensure equity among public interest claims.
