[Financial News] SGC E&C ranked 10th in the industrial and environmental facility segment of the 2025 general construction performance evaluation announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
On the 27th, SGC E&C said the company has shown a steady upward trend over the past three years in the construction capability evaluation for the industrial and environmental facility segment. It placed 20th in 2024, 18th in 2025, and 15th in 2026, further strengthening its position.
SGC E&C is an EPC construction company founded in 1967 based on the technology division of OCI, formerly Dongyang Steel Chemical. With its own engineering organization, the company is expanding its business portfolio in high-value-added sectors such as semiconductors, pharmaceuticals and biotech, chemicals, and industrial plants.
In 2024, the company recorded $1.3 billion in new orders, mainly in Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, and ranked sixth among domestic builders in overseas new order performance, showing continued improvement.
This year, it plans to continue winning orders centered on large overseas plants and domestic semiconductor facility investments. Overseas, it is in talks with global clients such as Saudi Aramco and SABIC, while in Malaysia it is seeking new business opportunities with OCI TerraSus, a subsidiary of OCI Holdings.
At home, the company is pursuing additional orders based on its existing track record, including the expansion of a semiconductor back-end process plant in Incheon, a semiconductor packaging and testing plant, and a semiconductor component manufacturing plant in Gwangju Opo.
SGC E&C has improved construction efficiency by leveraging its in-house engineering organization, which allows internal technical reviews and rapid technical support during project execution. Based on this capability, it has proven its competitiveness by securing both schedule and quality in industrial plant projects, where meeting deadlines is critical.
In July 2022, the company signed a $300 million contract with Amkor Technology for a semiconductor packaging and testing plant project. It completed the project in 15 months from groundbreaking, setting a record for the shortest completion time among similar projects.
In the pharmaceuticals and biotech sector, the company first entered the domestic GMP business in 1998 and has since carried out EPC projects for related plants, including bio cleanrooms.
CEO Lee Chang-mo of SGC E&C said, "We will continue to secure high-quality projects with SGC E&C's unmatched plant expertise built over the years
and maintain a solid operating profit trend," adding, "We will firmly build a foundation for sustainable growth by focusing on two pillars: the petrochemical sector and high-value-added sectors such as semiconductors."
