President Lee's approval rating at 50%; August 13 real estate measures draw 57% negative assessment [NBS]

[Financial News] A poll released on the 27th showed that 50% of respondents gave a positive assessment of President Lee Jae-myung's performance in office.
According to the National Barometer Survey (NBS), conducted by Embrain Public, Kstat Research, Korea Research International and Hankook Research from Aug. 24 to 26 among 1,001 adults nationwide aged 18 and older, 50% said they viewed the president's administration positively. That was up 1 percentage point from the survey two weeks earlier.
Negative assessments came in at 43%, unchanged from the previous poll. As a result, positive ratings outpaced negative ones by 7 percentage points.
By age group, positive ratings topped 50% among people in their 40s at 61% and those in their 50s at 57%. Among respondents in their 20s, 30s, 60s and those aged 70 or older, positive ratings were in the 40% range at 40%, 45%, 48% and 47%, respectively.
By region, positive ratings exceeded 50% in Jeonnam, Gwangju and Jeonbuk at 80%, Gangwon and Jeju at 63%, and the Daejeon, Sejong and Chungcheong region at 56%. They were lower in Daegu–Gyeongbuk at 32%, Seoul at 43%, and Incheon and Gyeonggi Province at 46%.
In addition, 63% agreed with the argument that President Lee should say he will not run in the next presidential election if the constitution is amended, while 28% disagreed.
On the government's August 13 real estate measures, 57% said they would not be effective in stabilizing home prices, while 34% said they would be effective.
In party support, the Democratic Party of Korea rose 1 percentage point to 41%, while the People Power Party (PPP) fell 3 points to 20%. The gap between the two parties widened to 21 points.
Support for the Reform Party and the Rebuilding Korea Party (RKP) stood at 2% each, while the Progressive Party received 1%. The undecided bloc, or respondents who said they did not support any party, was 30%.
The survey was conducted by telephone interview using 100% mobile virtual numbers. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.1 percentage points at the 95% confidence level, and the response rate was 15.4%.
