[Financial News] Polaris AI Handy is accelerating its AI transformation following its name change. The company plans to strengthen AI capabilities from within by holding an internal hackathon in which employees use AI to solve workplace problems and develop services.
Polaris AI Handy said on the 27th that it held an internal hackathon for all employees to identify AI-based ideas for workplace innovation and turn them into actual services.
This was the first internal hackathon held since the company changed its name to Polaris AI Handy. It was designed to spread an AI-use culture across the organization and build AX capabilities that would allow employees to drive workplace innovation themselves.
The hackathon ran in two stages over about five to six weeks, from proposal submissions to final judging. Participants identified repetitive tasks and inconveniences in their daily work, focusing on new groupware features, workflow automation and open-ended topics, and proposed AI-based solutions.
A key feature was that participants were expected not only to generate ideas, but also to build outcomes that could be applied to actual work. Even employees with no development experience used AI-based "Vibe Coding" to turn ideas into service formats. Developers and non-developers formed teams together to test whether the results could be used in practice.
The company said this showed the potential for AI to be used not just as a simple work assistant, but as a tool for improving actual business processes. In particular, as frontline employees identified problems they experienced in their work and built solutions themselves, internal interest and participation remained high.
Polaris AI Handy plans to expand the hackathon into a regular quarterly program rather than a one-off event. It will continue identifying needed features and ideas from the field, and will first apply outstanding results to internal systems to verify their effectiveness.
Ideas with proven business value will also be reflected in existing groupware and AX services. The company aims to connect employee-generated field needs with product development, strengthen the competitiveness of its groupware and AI work services, and uncover new business opportunities.
A Polaris AI Handy official said, "If the name change marked the starting point for the company's new direction, this hackathon is meaningful because it shows employees have begun creating that change themselves." The official added, "Not only developers, but also non-developers and frontline employees used AI and Vibe Coding to build services needed for real work, confirming the organization-wide potential for AI use."
"Given the strong internal response and high participation, we plan to make the hackathon a regular program and continue discovering new ideas," the official said. "After applying outstanding results to internal operations and verifying them, we will reflect them in groupware and AX products to improve the products and connect them to new business opportunities."
Polaris AI Handy plans to first apply and verify AI-driven workplace innovation internally, then expand it to customers' AX initiatives. The company will combine AI technology with its existing groupware business while incorporating use cases accumulated in real work settings into services for corporate clients.
It also plans to expand AX business cooperation within the group. By linking Polaris Office's document, collaboration and AI technologies with Polaris Cloud's cloud, data and AI capabilities, the company aims to respond to a wide range of business environments for corporate customers.
