"The Boy His Father Always Missed"... Hongcheon County to Search for the Korean War Boy 'KIM'

[Financial News, Hongcheon = Kim Gi-seop] Hongcheon County is lending its support to a search for a boy from Hongcheon, known as 'KIM,' who was deeply missed for the rest of his life by a U.S. Marine Corps war correspondent who fought in the Korean War.
According to Hongcheon County on the 27th, Robert P. Mosier, the son of the late reporter Robert H. Mosier, who served as a war correspondent from 1951 to 1952, recently told the MPVA that he wants to find 'KIM,' the unit assistant his father always longed for. Hongcheon County has decided to help with the search and is collecting tips from residents.
The boy in Mosier's memory met the reporter at a refugee camp near Changdori at the time. Changdori was formerly Changdo-myeon in Kimhwa County, Gangwon Province, and is now in North Korea. According to Mosier's records, the boy was 15 in the winter of 1951, suggesting he was born between 1935 and 1937. He grew up in a Christian family in Hongcheon. His father had already died, and he was said to have fled Hongcheon to a nearby area to escape bombing.
Mosier documented the horrors of war and often took photographs with the boy. Around Christmas 1951, he even visited the boy's home and met his mother, grandfather, and sister. The two were separated around July 1952 when the division withdrew, but Mosier reportedly missed the boy for the rest of his life.
Hongcheon County plans to publicize the story through its official blog, social networking services, and local news channels, while encouraging residents to submit tips. Information about the boy 'KIM' can be sent through the MPVA website, YouTube, or the relevant department.
