BYD Korea Delivers First Sealion 6 DM-i in South Korea to GS Global

[Financial News] BYD Korea announced on the 27th that it will officially begin customer deliveries of the plug-in hybrid sport utility vehicle (SUV) Sealion 6 DM-i, which was first introduced in South Korea at the Busan International Mobility Show. The company delivered the first unit to GS Global, its official importer partner for BYD electric buses in South Korea.
The delivery ceremony took place at the BYD Auto Gangseo showroom, operated by Harmony Automobile, BYD Korea's official passenger-car dealer.
GS Global, the first customer to receive the Sealion 6 DM-i in South Korea, has handled the domestic supply and sales of BYD electric buses since being selected in 2020 as BYD's official importer partner for its commercial vehicle division.
The Sealion 6 DM-i is a model based on BYD's proprietary DM-i plug-in hybrid technology, combining the high efficiency of an electric vehicle with the long-distance driving convenience of an internal combustion engine vehicle. In everyday driving, it can operate efficiently mainly on the electric motor, while on long trips, the engine helps reduce charging concerns.
Equipped with an 18.3 kWh BYD Blade Battery, it offers a maximum EV-mode driving range of 70 kilometers under Ministry of Environment certification standards.
A BYD Korea official said, "We are pleased to offer Korean customers a new option through the Sealion 6 DM-i, allowing them to experience both the efficiency of an electric vehicle and the convenience of a hybrid vehicle." The official added, "We will continue to introduce a variety of electrified models in the Korean market and contribute to expanding the eco-friendly mobility ecosystem."
Meanwhile, based on its lineup of various electrified models, including battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids, BYD Korea plans to continue expanding opportunities for Korean consumers to experience and choose eco-friendly vehicles that fit their lifestyles.
