Korea Local Information Research & Development Institute Seeks Safe Ways to Use Public AI... Online Seminar Set for September 1

【Financial News】As artificial intelligence technology rapidly spreads across local governments and public administration, a forum will open to explore responsible AI adoption in the public sector and ways to address legal risks.
According to KLID on the 27th, the institute will co-host the 4th KLID-FNF Online Regular Seminar with Germany's Friedrich Naumann Foundation at 2 p.m. on September 1.
The seminar, under the main theme "Regional AX Implemented Through AI," was organized to closely examine the ethical issues and legal questions that arise when introducing AI in the public sector, in line with the move to enact the Framework Act on the Development of Artificial Intelligence.
In the first session, Lim Ji-hoon, a research professor at the Graduate School of Information Security, Korea University, will give a presentation on "Key Provisions of the Framework Act on the Development of Artificial Intelligence and Public AI Ethics."
Professor Lim will outline the main points of the Framework Act on the Development of Artificial Intelligence, along with the ethical principles and response measures that the public sector should follow.
In the second session, Jung Won-joon, senior research fellow at Lee & Ko, will present on "Legal Issues and Cases in the Introduction and Use of AI in the Public Sector."
Jung will examine, through case studies, the legal risks and practical review tasks that public institutions and local governments may face when introducing AI systems.
After the presentations, a discussion and live Q&A session will follow with experts from various fields and online participants.
The seminar will be livestreamed on the institute's official YouTube channel, and those who wish to participate can join for free after pre-registering by noon on the 31st.
Kim Seok-jin, Deputy Director of KLID, said, "As AI-driven administration expands, it has become more important than ever to establish ethical and legal standards for using the technology safely and responsibly."
